The Americans would probably call her a feisty old broad – but they’d do it with affection. Because, despite a default position of blunt honesty, Broadway star Elaine Stritch attracts love and loyalty by the tonne.
But that’s just part of the story for film maker Chieme Karasawa, who also takes us behind the greasepaint to see how the performer’s battle with diabetes affects her health. We even see her in the middle of a serious diabetic attack that temporarily takes away her ability to speak.
Filmed in 2012, the documentary follows Stritch as she prepares to take a one-woman show on a short tour at the age of 86. Enough said. Read my review on Filmoria for more insights into the world of a talented and remarkable lady. http://www.filmoria.co.uk/2013/10/elaine-stritch-shoot-review/
